SUMMER PRINT OUT: A Little Goes A Long Way

With all those prints blooming like an over-grown English garden this summer, it's easy to look like  you fell into a flower barrel if you're not careful. Whether you love or loathe them, prints are on-trend for everything from beachy bikini cover-ups to tunics, tees, sheaths, slacks, even flip flops and Manolo stiletto pumps.

Like wasabi, a little print goes a long way, despite what you may have seen parading down the runways or in the latest fashion press.

Got a little extra girth where the girls are? Go for darker prints up top, like smaller geometrics, and pair with a solid skimmer pant, pencil skirt, or go for ikat tone-on-tone print tunics paired with lightweight leggings, ballet flats and bohemian-inspired jewelry.

Take a cue from Vogue editor Anna Wintour, a fan of prints in beautifully cut fit-and-flare dresses. She often chooses muted florals that don't overpower her petite frame, tossing on a cardigan to cover bare arms.

Prints are amazing at camouflaging figure flaws, especially in swimwear, where strategically placed florals can whittle a waist, hide a tummy, or boost a bustline.

If prints are simply not your thing, consider adding a punch of print with a scarf tied on that new hobo bag or tote. Or brighten your LBDs with flower-powered pumps, SL discovered on Zappos and Shoedazzle.com.

SL's passionate about prints this summer, and hopes you'll catch the print fever. By all means pack a print or two for that tropical getaway where the sun shines bright and color reigns!

Warm summer wishes,
