Have a (healthy) Heart!

Here's some sobering news...heart disease kills more women than breast cancer. In fact, it is the No. 1 killer of women. This month is a SPEX-TACULAR time to devote to heart healthy habits, and to begin incorporating little differences that can add up to a big deal!

Think you need a gym to get exercise? Not! You can incorporate exercise into everything you do in a day.

The most important thing, however, is that you MOVE! And Keep Moving!
*Walk when you talk. That's right...when you get on the phone with one of your BFF's, don't sit there and chat! Move! Walk around your house and before you know it you've just walked off 30 minutes of time!
*Looking for the closest parking space? Try parking farther away and getting a brisk walk in to the store or mall.
*Need a stairmaster? Think stairs instead of elevators.

Carrying groceries, vacuuming, gardening, mowing the lawn (and not sitting on a riding lawn mower!!!), shoveling snow, all are good exercise!

One of the healthiest people I know is my 85 year old mother who still walks up and down her stairs every day to do the laundry, and who is still shoveling snow, and trimming her shrubs.

Eating right, getting plenty of rest, and reducing stress are equally important...in fact, stress has been found to be one of the primary contributors to heart attacks in women.

Take a good LOOK at your life...could it be a little healthier? Take these tips to heart, and promise me, you'll be extra good to yourself this month!

Have a spex-tacular Valentine's Day and heart-healthy February!
