COMFORTING THOUGHTS

Once upon a time, when the need for some good comfort food would rise up and growl at me, I'd head off to my nearest Black Eyed Pea for meat loaf and mashed potatoes, one or two of those pudgy rolls, and a big ol' iced tea. Good food, yes, but atmosphere, NOT!

Now Spexy Lady needs a little more out of her dining experience...after all, the kids are gone, the dogs are house-trained, and she's got lots of gal pals who just wanna have fun. Needless to day, atmosphere often trumps food!

Leave it to Dallas' chef extraordinaire, Kent Rathbun, to make comfort food cool with his new Blue Plate Kitchen at Dallas' Preston Center. It's like going home to grandma, but my grandma's never looked like this! The sleek warm interior and open kitchen invite casual conversation over fried chicken or a shrimp coleslaw salad, or even better, warm (ask for it) apple pie.

Now when the mood arises, and it's been one of "those" days, Spexy Lady will be heading over to Kent's latest stroke of genius for a Blue Plate special to chase the blues away!

Off to a spex-tacular treat!
